What will you be doing?
Our Buildings Design business has a growing pipeline of work on the horizon across NSW and VIC which has created an opportunity for an experienced Associate Technical Director Mechanical to join either our Melbourne or Sydney based team to deliver projects across the building services and infrastructure sectors with a particular focus on upcoming precincts and rail station design opportunities.
Your role will include but is not limited to:
Delivery and sign-off of full mechanical design on significant building projects in commercial, retail, health and transport sectors;
Managing an on-going relationship with the client and influencing decisions in both the client organisation and the industry and promoting Arcadis;
Working with client and stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of project objectives and to set protocols for working together;
Taking responsibility for resource allocation, collaborating with other design disciplines ensuring the integrity of the overall design, quality assurance, and client expectations are met;
Understanding our clients business and the NSW or VIC industry, to facilitate building effective and enduring relationships and consolidating both company and personal credibility in the industry;
Engaging and utilising the Global Excellence Centres (GECs) as key members and resources of the team;
Implementing a high level of innovation in technical issues, problem solving and the culture of the team, leading by example; and
Providing technical expertise and overview to client and stakeholders and assisting clients through technical decision-making and provide alternatives options/solutions if there are changes to project parameters.
Who are we looking for?
You will come to us with:
12+ years industry experience with mechanical design engineering is essential.
Extensive experience gained across the Building Services and Infrastructure sectors with a particular focus on retail, commercial, infrastructure and health projects would also be of great benefit.
Demonstrated consulting experience on projects of significant scale and/or complexity.
Relevant post-graduate experience, including supervising aspects of a project, application of standards and technical knowledge.
Strong client focus and the ability to manage all commercial aspects (contracting, invoicing, debt management, and client management).
Proven experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with clients and the ability to work collaboratively with other members of the team.
Suitable for chartered membership with Engineers Australia.
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical design and documentation standards.
Recognised leader in specialist discipline with well-established industry networks
Ability to coordinate and liaise effectively with clients and contractors, and experience of construction phase assistance and inspections;
Demonstrated experience of managing inter-disciplinary design interfaces and/or projects;
Demonstrated technical, commercial and delivery acumen and ability to lead, with strong influencing and motivating skills.
Excellent communication and relationship building skills, both internally and externally.
