The Team
The Store and Concept Design team sits within the wider team for concept and design, store and shop in shop development within the PVH Omnichannel Department and is part of the headquarter of Calvin Klein EMEA.

The team is responsible for creating and shaping for the future the concept and store design and with that delivering to our consumers the right CALVIN KLEIN Brand experience. The responsibilities of the team have a game changing impact not only on Brand image, but also on the commercial success of the brick and mortar business by reflecting the consumer shopping and experience expectations as well as the operational and functional needs of product display, marketing and communication and store operations and other business crucial functions.

The team is responsible for all concepts and designs of all stores and shop in shop in the EMEA region. This includes Full price and Outlet for Own and Operated as well as for franchise and multi-brand locations such as department stores.

The Position
In this Director role you will be responsible for the development and execution of store concepts and designs according to brand, commercial and sustainable needs. Equipped with your vast experience and knowledge in brand and business you’ll lead the ongoing process of finding the right balance between those.

Decisions and creative directions are based on extensive industry and consumer knowledge, desired brand images & consumer experience and overall company & departmental commercial and business plans – from the Divisions all the way to Omnichannel and the markets.

You will also develop strategies to break it down and make it applicable across the different channels and tiering levels.

You will be a key player for the future of the CK EMEA Brick & Mortar business. The purpose is to ensure store concepts and designs are giving the right Brand image, are integrating and reflecting the permanently changing consumer behaviors & expectations, new services and experience and the overall Omnichannel strategy and company goals.

One key to success is the stakeholder management across the complex matrix organization from the New York Global Head quarter team to the EMEA organization in Amsterdam and the country organization. Ensuring alignment and transparency on needs, brief, strategy and execution will contribute to the success of the store concepts and design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and creatively direct the new concept developments for all divisions and channels (CK Underwear, CK Jeans, CK Sportswear, CK Kids, Full price, Outlet, Shop in Shop). A fundamental role for development of the future for brick and mortar business for Calvin Klein.
  • Responsible for all store designs for all for divisions and channels (CK Underwear, CK Jeans, CK Sportswear, CK Kids, Full price, Outlet, Shop in Shop)
  • Own and lead the organization through the lengthy and very complex process of store concept design: from defining brief, finding alignment, decision driving and official sign off moments with executive level and key stakeholders. To leading it all way through from design idea to detailed drawing packages, cost controlling, sustainability check points, engineering, prototyping, value engineering, sourcing, and implementation.
  • Manage the key stakeholders in the complex business and matrix organization from Executive to manager’s level. Key partners in day to way will be the CK SVP Global Store Design and Planning in New York, the country Retail VP’s, CK Marketing Director EMEA, Merchandising Director, Senior Director VM and Windows, Commercial Director Outlet, Senior Director Store development and the consumer insights team.
  • Provide Leadership to the CK Store Concept and Design team; coach and develop talent
  • Be the lead for the future relevance of store concepts for CK. Reflect the changes in the industry, consumer needs and behaviors. Developing strategies and tierings matching those changes and the business and brand needs and strategies.
  • Stay informed and develop ongoing insights and knowledge of industry, consumer, sustainability, technology and trends
  • Manage cost center, concept and fixture development costs and resources. Management of external resources and vendors
  • The Ideal Candidate:

  • 10 years of relevant concept and design experience within an innovative Retail/Fashion industry
  • 4 years + experience in managing and empowering a team
  • An education in interior design, architecture, industrial design
  • Proficiency in brand, commerciality, business and sustainability. Detailed knowledge in store design, concept design, product display, fixture design, materials, engineering, production, timeline and cost management.
  • Strong expertise in managing the process and communication of new concept development through all stages and with all relevant stakeholders: from strategic brief definition, sign offs, cost & resource management, external and internal parties, design intent to detailed design, prototyping, value engineering to execution. Ensuring decision driving and alignment throughout the process as well as the creation of all relevant content (designs, drawings, manuals etc.)
  • Proven expertise to drive the right choices and decisions from the beginning of the process – ensuring successful delivery and execution at the end. Success is defined by matching the needs on sustainability, price point, store operations, VM and Windows as well as representation of the brand image and experience.
  • Cross-functional leadership and influencing skills for stakeholder management. Ability to build strong partnerships across functions and cultures, driving decisions with senior leaders, internal/external stakeholders and peers – from Directors up to SVP level.
  • Knowledge and understanding of global and regional differences and requirements regarding consumers, store design, materials, compliance and regulations and market dynamics
  • Strong expertise in the ongoing changes of the role of stores, industry and consumer behavior
  • Creative and forward thinking approach yet at the same time catering to solutions and needs of the now and building strong strategic directions that can be leveraged across the region of EMEA
  • Build, develop and drive results through high-performing teams
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel up to 35% of the time
