The Director Merchant Boarding manages the Merchant Boarding Team of Smart2Pay Global Services B.V., a Nuvei Company. The Merchant Boarding team is responsible with the onboarding of merchants (retail, digital games, marketplaces, PSPs, etc.) via the Onboarding Platform of Smart2Pay and with the approval and periodic review of merchants’ KYC files, in accordance with the Customer Due Diligence Policy of Smart2Pay (licensed and supervised by the DNB). Furthermore, the Merchant Boarding team is responsible with the onboarding of the merchants with payment providers (the company offers more than 200 payment methods, credit cards and APMs).

The Director Merchant Boarding position will be located in Amsterdam. In addition to the daily team management responsibilities, the DMB will be in charge with the administration of the Amsterdam office and will coordinate the governance around S2P’S Board of Managers Meetings (drive the Board agenda, document the Board meetings etc.).

The Director Merchant Boarding reports to the Chief Operating Officer of Smart2Pay.

Key responsibilities:

  • Motivates and trains a skilled team of Merchant Boarding specialists (underwriters)
  • Supervises the work performed by the MBMs and provides them with support in performing key activities
  • Performs quality assurance checks on KYC files completed by the team members
  • Takes responsibility on onboarding a large number of merchants and marketplace sellers within due time
  • Coordinates with Payment Methods Providers to continuously improve the onboarding
  • Reviews AML/KYC related matters with Compliance and other business stakeholders as necessary
  • Translates AML/KYC policies into work procedures, continuously strive to improve internal processes
  • Works with Compliance and Internal Audit on 2nd/3rd lines of defense related topics (policies/controls)
  • Works with Product to further enhance and automate onboarding processes
  • Prioritizes and reports on team activities (SLAs/KPIs): no. of merchant applications, time to approve etc.
  • Coordinates various onboarding topics among internal teams: sales, risk, product, technical integration
  • Manages the relationship with payment methods providers in respect to onboarding practices
  • Is responsible for audit results and control matters related to owned processes/ functional areas
  • Administration of the Amsterdam Office including liaising with NL contacts in respect to all local matters
  • Secretarial activities for the S2P Board of Managers (drive Board Agenda, document Board Meetings etc.)
  • Requirements

  • Previous experience in financial services preferably working for an ecommerce payment service provider
  • Several years of experience in managing underwriting teams, people management and leadership skills
  • Very strong knowledge of AML/CFT international and Dutch regulations (AMLD5, WWFT, WFT, Sanctions Act etc.),
  • Previous experience in working together with the Dutch Central Bank/FIU is strongly desired
  • Knowledge of transaction monitoring, SIRA, AOIC, Outsourcing Policies etc. is desired
  • Customer focused, able to deliver a good customer experience while enforcing strict compliance policies
  • Ability to manage multiple task and projects in a very dynamic environment with fast changing priorities
  • Efficiency driven and focused on continuous improvement of day to day underwriting operations
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken) and fluent Dutch
