The IT Infrastructure and Operations Management Unit at Medtronic is on a journey to transition to a Product/Service Operating Model with a focus on Agile Delivery.

The IT Product Management Director is responsible for defining and supporting the building of a desirable, feasible, viable, and sustainable suite of products that meet customer needs. This individual will collaborate with a wide range of other roles to identify and define the customer needs, understand the solution context, prioritize and sequence efforts across multiple product groups, and develop the product suite vision, roadmap, and features required to meet these needs. This role will support the service group in delivering value through the product backlogs and continuous delivery pipeline and will coordinate the work of multiple IT Product Owners through a set of capabilities defined in the product vision, product roadmap, and solution intent. The IT Product Management Director will also be responsible for coordinating with other service group leaders on cross-functional customer needs.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

As an IT Product Management Director, for the suite of products under your direction you will:

  • Define the customer journey and experience
  • Define the expected value and outcomes
  • Develop and communicate a clear strategic vision and roadmap
  • Build consensus with senior leadership on the product suite vision, roadmap, and outcomes
  • Work with Product Owners to synchronize product backlogs and maximize the success of the entire product suite
  • Manage customer and stakeholder expectations, providing transparency and visibility to the product suite vision, roadmap, and priorities on delivery
  • Alleviate roadblocks, dependencies, and resource constraints for the entire development team
  • In conjunction with architects, designers, and key contributors, identify and evaluate new opportunities to proactively improve the product suite
  • Coordinate across Product Owners and other Product Management Directors to manage priorities across the service groups
  • Coordinate with leaders across service groups on cross-functional solutions
  • Measure customer experience and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Must Have

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant IT experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant IT experience with 7+ years of managerial experience

  • NICE TO HAVE

  • Managerial level understanding of networking, data center operations, compute, and storage technologies.

  • Experience with agile development processes (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)

  • Customer personas and journey mapping experience

  • Experience with agile delivery platforms (e.g., VersionOne, Jira)

  • Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation)

  • Advanced degree in Business, Computer Science, or related area of study

  • At least 8-10 years of related business experience

  • Entrepreneurial mentality with a focus on continuous improvement of the product suite

  • Ability to collaborate, build relationships with, and influence across organizations at all levels

  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions quickly, adapt, and be flexible

  • Demonstrated ability to work and make decisions in an ambiguous environment or with limited information

  • Ability to identify and coordinate cross-functional and team dependencies

  • Demonstrated ability to set a customer-centered vision, while empowering teams to determine specifics of the solution

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively, balancing business value with time criticality, opportunity enablement, and risk reduction

  • Within your experience, at least 2 years of coaching or people management experience

  • Within your experience, at least 2 years spent leading business-side process and driving technical solutions
